Behind The Artist Tree

Treehouse Arts in Longmont, Colorado was established in 2014 by Kate Otte. Kate holds a degree in art, psychology, and sociology. She has experience with and knowledge of many forms of art but mainly gravitates to drawing and painting when she creates her own artwork. She has been commissioned to do various art pieces including murals, paintings, children and pet portraits throughout her life.

Kate has over 22 years of experience working with children of all ages and adults, teaching art and guiding them through their unique artistic expression. She formerly taught at Dawson School in Lafayette, CO as the k-6 art teacher for 10 years. Then, after having children of her own, she decided to start teaching individuals and small groups mainly out of her small studio but also at students’ residences and other venues. Kate loves teaching students of all ages, sharing her knowledge of art techniques and use of materials, while facilitating students’ desire to learn and grow artistically. She strives to get to know her students and what they hope to achieve and learn artistically. She formulates projects and lessons based on students’ interests and desire to learn, tailoring to their specific interests and abilities.

Art has no bounds and Kate is happy to explore students’ artistic endeavors from drawing and painting to printmaking, felting, clay works, sculpture and more.
